Hot Monday in Chicago: Summer temperatures up to 32°C in Illinois

Chicago and much of Illinois enter the new work week today, September 15, with weather conditions that feel more like mid-July than mid-September. According to meteorologists, Monday brings sunny weather and unusually high temperatures for this time of year.

In the interior of the country, maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 32°C, while along the lake shore, temperatures will be slightly lower, around 27°C. Such conditions provide an opportunity for another extended summer day, so many residents are looking forward to trips to the parks and walks by the lake.

Forecasts show that similar weather will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with predominantly sunny days and temperatures between 25 and 28°C. However, a change will occur starting Thursday—cloudiness and a chance of rain in the afternoon hours. Temperatures will remain pleasant, around 27°C.

Friday brings more clouds, occasional rain, and a slight drop in temperature to an average of 24°C. According to the long-term forecast, the weekend and the following period will bring a gradual transition to cooler weather, which is in line with seasonal expectations.

Meteorologists emphasize that such high temperatures in September are the result of thermal anomalies affecting a broader part of the Midwest. While the southeastern United States is recording slightly cooler days, Chicago and Illinois are enjoying the final gasps of summer.

For now, residents have the opportunity to take advantage of a few more warm and sunny days before autumn shows its true face.
