Chicago: Five men accused of trafficking firearms via USPS
Six men, including five from Chicago, sold methamphetamine from Sacramento in Chicago and the surrounding area, according to prosecutors. Stephen Jenkins (44), Daniel Heise (40), Donald Grenier (61), Jose Hernandez (45), William Koch (36), and Keith McCormick (51) have been charged with drug trafficking.
Jenkins, Heise, Grenier, Hernandez, and Koch are residents of Chicago, and McCormick is from Sacramento. Heise also faces a firearm possession charge in this case. From February 2022 to February 2023, McCormick mailed packages containing methamphetamine via the U.S. Postal Service to Chicago.
Law enforcement officials during the investigation found more than 200 packages suspected of being used to transfer methamphetamine. Investigators were able to identify the drug in at least 10 packages, including packages intended for Grenier, McCormick, Koch, Hernandez, and Heise.
Jenkins and Heise allegedly sent drug proceeds to McCormick via FedEx and UPS, prosecutors pointed out. Drug trafficking penalties for the defendants can range from a minimum of five years to life imprisonment, depending on the amount of methamphetamine the man is charged with, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
