A Chicago club combining running and reading is taking the city by storm

In Chicago, there is an unusual club that combines a love of books and running: the Read and Run Club.

This unique concept, which Runner’s Magazine calls „the fastest book club,“ allows book lovers to explore the city through the stories they read.

The club was founded by Allison Yates with the idea that people can enjoy physical activity regardless of the weather conditions, while simultaneously sharing a passion for literature. The principle is simple – members receive a book whose plot takes place in Chicago, and two weeks later they run together along a route inspired by key locations from the story.

During the run, participants discuss the book as they pass through locations that are part of its narrative. In this way, running takes on a new meaning, and the story literally unfolds beneath their feet. After covering 2 to 5 miles, the group gathers for a well-deserved rest and a deeper analysis of the read work.

This innovative way of connecting literature and physical activity quickly gained popularity in Chicago, attracting a growing number of members. More information about the club can be found on the official website: www.readandrunchicago.com.
