US Congress proposed a $1.2 trillion package to fund government operations

Leaders of the U.S. Congress have announced details of a $1.2 trillion deal to fund the further operations of U.S. government agencies until September 30.

According to Bloomberg information, the US House of Representatives will vote on this proposal on Friday, March 22.

If the proposal is adopted, US defense spending would increase by more than three percent to $1.44886 trillion, while domestic spending remains largely the same.

Agencies performing border control duties and dealing with migrants will have a somewhat larger budget, Yahoo Finance reports.

The package, supported by US President Joe Biden and the leaders of the Democratic and Republican parties, among other things, imposes a six percent cut in funding for the State Department and foreign operations.

The proposal also states that US embassies will be banned from flying LGBTQ flags supporting sexual minorities or any other flags that are not official.

Many US embassies around the world have displayed the LGBTQ-themed flag during the so-called „Pride Month“ in June, as well as on other occasions.
