University of Illinois officially among the most elite educational institutions

The latest ranking of universities that can be called „New Ivies“ has included one university from Illinois, as well as several other prestigious Midwestern institutions.
Forbes has published a list of 10 public and private universities that attract the best students and produce graduates who, according to employers, even surpass many from the Ivy League.
These educational institutions are extremely selective. For example, private universities on the list admit candidates with an average SAT score of 1530, which is even higher than Cornell University, one of the Ivy League members. Public institutions on the list admit students with an average SAT score of 1410.
The criteria for admission to this exclusive list included student enrollment numbers (a minimum of 3,500 for private and 4,000 for public universities), a low acceptance rate (less than for private and for public), and high average entrance exam scores (1530 SAT or 34 ACT for private, 1410 SAT or 32 ACT for public universities).
Among public universities, the prestigious list is led by the University of Illinois, while among private ones, Northwestern University stands out.
The best public universities in the Midwest on the list are:
- Purdue University
- University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
- University of Michigan – Ann Arbor
Among private universities, the top ones are:
- Northwestern University
- University of Notre Dame
- Washington University in St. Louis
These recognitions confirm the quality of education in the US Midwest and highlight regional universities as equal to Ivy League institutions.
