Karleuša told Severina: „Deal with your own country and your own president“
The appearance of Jelena Karleuša on the show „Novo jutro“ on Pink television provoked strong reactions in the region after the singer openly and unreservedly commented on political topics, as well as the public statements of Croatian singer Severina regarding the situation in Serbia. In a conversation with host Jovana Jeremić, Karleuša once again made it clear where she stands when it comes to national and political views.
When asked about how she views the interference of public figures from Croatia in Serbia's internal affairs, Karleuša was extremely sharp. She stated that she does not need money to support her country and people, emphasizing that this is a matter of patriotism, rather than self-interest. She specifically referred to Severina, claiming that her political appearances are „well paid“ and part of a broader, as she puts it, anti-Serbian agenda.
„I greet her and tell her to deal with her own country, her own president and her own people,“ Karleuša stated, adding that it was unclear to her why any public figure from another country would actively get involved in political processes in Serbia.
The conversation also mentioned that other popular artists from Croatia, such as Jelena Rozga or Nina Badrić, have never had similar outbursts, with which Karleuša agreed. She also pointed out that many of her friends from Croatia harshly condemn the behavior of Severina and the singer Thompson, believing that they are damaging interstate relations.
Finally, Karleuša stated that she respects all public figures who, as she says, „conduct themselves with dignity“ and do not participate in campaigns that deepen divisions, emphasizing that such attitudes meet with condemnation even within Croatia itself.
