Trump caused a stir on social media, many are moving to a new platform, Apple and Google are removing it from their stores
Donald Trump's accounts have been indefinitely removed from Instagram and Facebook network, his Discord servers have been cancelled, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch are deleting some of his videos, and Twitter has permanently banned the personal account of the former US president.
All of this led to Trump's migration as a social media user to Parler, and with him a large number of his supporters to that new social network.
Parler is a social network for conservatives, or rather, people who speak their minds publicly, as stated in the app's description, and it most closely resembles Twitter. Following numerous bans, Trump moved to Parler, which is now in trouble—the app is facing a ban on the App Store as well, and the Play Store has already removed it. Google explained that this happened due to a failure to comply with the network's code of conduct, specifically due to open calls for the continuation of violence in Washington, in which several people lost their lives.
Google said that Parler will remain out of the Play Store until it resolves the moderation of comments, i.e., content within the app, so that calls to violence are no longer visible. Apple also gave the Parler team a deadline to fix the same thing, otherwise the app will be removed from the App Store as well on January 9 or 10.
For Android users, this is not such bad news, since Parler can be freely downloaded from the app's website or from alternative app stores, but for iPhone, iPad, and iPod users, it is. iOS does not allow any other method of software installation except through the App Store, and that would be a major blow for many users and for the Parler app itself.
The Parler team has not commented on the situation for now and they refused to say anything to The Verge, Reuters, and other news agencies and media outlets.
