US Embassy urges Americans to leave Russia immediately: „Unpredictable consequences of the Russian invasion“

The US Embassy in Russia has urged Americans to leave the country immediately due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as well as the risk of, as they stated, arbitrary arrest or harassment by Russian law enforcement agencies.

„Do not travel to Russia due to the unpredictable consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. US citizens living or traveling in Russia must leave the country immediately, the website states.

The embassy stated that Russian security services are arresting American citizens on false charges, denying them fair and transparent treatment, and convicting them in secret trials, including American citizens involved in religious activities.

Russia has launched criminal proceedings against a US citizen on suspicion of espionage, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced in January, Euractiv reports.

Reuters reminded that the United States has repeatedly warned its citizens to leave Russia, and points out that such a public warning was issued in September, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial mobilization.
